Garden Bird ID (Free event!)

Gardens are an important refuge for wildlife, and many people have feeders to help support our feathered friends. Another way in which we can help is by recording the birds we see.

Organisations such as RSPB and British Trust for Ornithology rely on records given by members of the public to help keep their finger on the pulse of bird populations over the years. The RSPB’s 40th annual Big Garden Birdwatch is coming up on 26-28th January.

To help get your eye in I am offering a FREE Garden Bird ID workshop on January 26th.

We will look at key identification features of a range of garden birds and also get a glimpse into the fascinating hidden lives of these amazing animals (over a nice cup of tea).

Bird Language and Nature Awareness

Reading ‘bird language' is the ancient art of interpreting bird calls and behaviour, and is closely related to tracking. We will discover how interpreting bird vocalisations can help us become much more aware of what is happening in the wider landscape. We will also use a range of tools to hone our nature awareness and become more observant naturalists.
