Bird Language - SWT Loch of the Lowes

  • Loch of the Lowes Scotland (map)

Join Dan Puplett, one of Europe’s top wildlife trackers, to discover how recognising different types of bird calls, flight patterns and behaviour can help unlock the key to successfully observing the secret lives of birds and other animals.

By tuning into contact calls, alarms, song and other territorial calls we can improve our awareness of what is happening in the wider ecosystem and predict events such as the arrival of a sparrowhawk, locate an elusive tawny owl, or spot ground predators .

The day will start with teas & coffees and the opportunity to spend some time in the hides, before diving into some theory and then heading out to engage our senses and learn how the birds are communicating with us and each other.

Once unlocked, the art of bird language will help you connect with and get closer to wildlife on a much deeper level.

Please dress for the weather, bring sturdy outdoor footwear and a packed lunch. You may wish to bring a camera, notebook, binoculars, or means of recording, eg smart phone.
